The Wallerstein Monastery, a former spiritual institution, is situated in the Donau-Ries region of Bavaria. It is notable for its eventful history and its long tradition of educational work.

History+

The monastery, dedicated to Saint Anna, was founded in 1761 by Count Philipp Karl von Oettingen-Wallerstein. Originally managed by the Piarists, the monastery's existence ceased in 1803 due to secularization. In 1859, the English Ladies established themselves in Wallerstein and took over the girls' elementary school. The premises became their property in 1866. Around the turn of the century, a lyceum was opened, and the sisters were also involved in the kindergarten. During the Nazi era, they had to discontinue their educational work.
