History+

The existence of Rosenthal Monastery is documented from at least 1251. It was founded under the patronage of Mary and served as a spiritual home for noble nuns. In the 13th and 14th centuries, the monastery expanded its possessions through donations and purchases. From 1304, it was under the supervision and pastoral care of Himmerod Monastery. Over the centuries, various construction measures and renovations of the buildings took place.
