The Collegiate Foundation of Eutin was a significant ecclesiastical institution located in Ostholstein, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It played a crucial role in regional history and administration, especially after the relocation of the bishop's seat to Eutin.
History+
The Collegiate Foundation of Eutin was established in 1306, with its existence confirmed from 1309. It was consecrated under the patronage of Archangel Michael. Following the relocation of the Bishop of Lübeck to Eutin in 1309, the foundation significantly increased in importance and acquired extensive lands, including several villages in the region between Oldenburg in Holstein and Heiligenhafen. Even after the Reformation, the Collegiate Foundation remained in operation, continuing as an evangelical institution. Its existence concluded with the secularization in 1804.
