History+

The origins of Rasdorf Monastery date back to shortly after the year 781, when it was founded and existed for centuries as a collegiate foundation. It was consecrated under the patronage of John the Baptist and Saint Cecilia. The Benedictine community shaped the spiritual life and development of the foundation over many epochs. In the course of secularization, the collegiate foundation of Rasdorf was dissolved in 1803, bringing an end to its monastic function.
