The origins of the Collegiate Church of St. Alexander date back to a foundation between 851 and 871. It was dedicated to Saint Alexander, the son of Felicitas. For many centuries, the collegiate church shaped the religious and cultural life in Wildeshausen until it was dissolved between 1803 and 1806 as part of the secularization.
