Konstanz Minster

The Konstanz Minster, also known as Minster of Our Lady, is a significant sacred building in Konstanz on Lake Constance. As a former episcopal church, it shaped the region for centuries and is now a Catholic parish church, whose imposing appearance significantly contributes to the cityscape.
History+
The origins of Konstanz Minster date back to around 600 AD, when the episcopal see in Konstanz was established. The Church of St. Mary was first mentioned in a document in 780. For approximately twelve centuries, the Minster served as the cathedral of the Konstanz bishops and was a central place of ecclesiastical power. A special event in its history was its use as the venue for the Council of Konstanz between 1414 and 1418. In 1821, the diocese was abolished, and since then, the Minster has functioned as a Catholic parish church.

The Konstanz Minster is located in Konstanz, in the district of Konstanz, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It stands at an elevation of approximately 404 m above sea level.
