The Kremsmünsterer Stiftshaus, a former city residence of Kremsmünster Abbey, is a building in Linz's Old Town. It stands out with its Renaissance architecture, which blends into the historic urban landscape.

History+

Until 1493, it was owned by Emperor Frederick III. Subsequently, from 1493 to 1507, it belonged to Bernhard von Scherffenberg, who eventually sold it to Kremsmünster Abbey. Under the abbey's patronage, a new building was constructed between 1579 and 1580 according to plans by Christoph Canevale, incorporating older structural elements. Further alterations took place from 1585 to 1586 under Christoph Marthina, followed by a redesign between 1615 and 1616 by Marx Martin Spaz, during which the building was raised and round oriel windows were added.
