The Artificial Ruin Schreckenberg, a romanticized castle ruin built in the 19th century, shapes the landscape of the Schreckenberg in Annaberg-Buchholz. It was not constructed as a defensive structure but as an element and to provide employment during economically challenging times.

History+

Between 1854 and 1856, an artificial castle ruin was erected on the Schreckenberg. The financing for this project came from private donations by wealthy citizens of Annaberg and from the company Eisenstuck & Co.
