Landsbergsche Palace

The palace was constructed between 1702 and 1707 on behalf of Franz Kaspar Ferdinand von Landsberg zu Erwitte. Architect Gottfried Laurenz Pictorius designed a strictly symmetrical, three-winged complex with a courtyard of honor, which is characteristic of Baroque architecture in Münster. The central risalit of the main building features a gable. The central structure contained the lord's private chambers, including bedrooms, studies, dressing rooms, and dining rooms, as well as an archive. The side wings were used to house servants and stables; there was also a brewery and a coach house. In 1851, the Geological-Paleontological Museum moved into the Kurie. Although the building was severely damaged during World War II, it was successfully restored.
