Linger Castle

The castle was built between 1850 and 1853 on behalf of Albrecht of Prussia. It was originally intended as a residence for his chamberlain Baron von Stockhausen and was constructed in conjunction with the neighboring Albrechtsberg Castle. The prince himself resided in the building until Albrechtsberg Castle was completed. Adolph Lohse was responsible as the architect for the classical building and its interior design. In 1891, the Dresden sewing machine manufacturer Bruno Naumann acquired the property and had it redesigned. In 1906, the entrepreneur Karl August Lingner, known as the inventor of Odol mouthwash and founder of the Dresden Hygiene Museum, bought the castle. He had it redesigned according to his ideas, including a small zoo and a special organ. Wilhelm Kreis and Franz von Stuck redesigned the interiors, while Hans Poelzig and Georg Kolbe built a mausoleum in the park.
