Luftzeugamt Erprobungsstelle See

The Erprobungsstelle See was established in 1928. Its location with large open spaces on land and the water area of the Pötenitzer Wiek allowed for the testing of seaplanes and amphibious aircraft. From 1938, the site featured an aircraft carrier landing deck with an arrestor gear system to test carrier landings and carrier-based aircraft. In Pötenitz, on the Mecklenburg shore of the Wiek, was the associated Luftzeugamt Pötenitz. Aircraft weapons were initially tested directly by the E-Stelle See, but from 1937 onwards, at the Erprobungsstelle for Aircraft Armament in Tarnewitz.
