History+
The origins of the Manoir de Villars date back to the 14th century. During the Hundred Years' War, the complex played a strategically important role and was the scene of numerous conflicts between French, English, Armagnac, and Bourbon troops. It is recounted that Joan of Arc stayed here before setting out to liberate Saint-Pierre-le-Moûtier. The building is characterized by its four round corner towers, complemented by square towers in the middle of each side. In the 19th century, the interior of the estate was converted for agricultural use, a function that continued until the 1970s.
