Margarethenhof Palais

The Margarethenhof was first shown as a noble residence on a city view in 1588. In 1609, the Lange family is documented as the owner. In 1710, Heinrich Graf von Reventlow bought the property from the Flor family. In 1717, the palace was rebuilt. In 1728, District Administrator Charlotte von Lützau acquired the property. In 1759, Peter Holst bought the palace and subsequently established a soap factory. From 1762 to 1829, the palace served as a sugar refinery. In 1842, Nikolaus Jepsen bought the property and established an iron foundry. In 1882, the architect Plüddermann converted it into a factory owner's villa. The house was damaged during World War II. In the early 1970s, the factory buildings were demolished.
