Mellerstain House in the Scottish Borders is one of the few fully preserved works by architect Robert Adam. Located approximately 13 kilometers northwest of Kelso, it is a prominent example of 18th-century Scottish architecture.

History+

The origins of Mellerstain House date back to 1725 when George Baillie of Jerviswood, a merchant's son from Edinburgh, acquired the approximately 80-hectare estate. He commissioned architect William Adam to design a new residence. Adam initially constructed the two wings of the house.
