The Michaeliskloster in Jena, a former nunnery, existed from the early 14th to the early 16th century. Although often associated with the Cistercian Order, it was not formally incorporated into it, but followed its rules. The associated Church of St. Michael, which still stands today at Kirchplatz 1, was a significant building in the city's history.
