Mittelweiherburg, a moated castle, is located in the market town of Hard in Vorarlberg, Austria. Its history is linked to the development of the regional textile industry.

History+

The castle was built around 1570, originally surrounded by a pond that no longer exists today. Mittelweiherburg changed owners multiple times, including the Deuring family and Weingarten Abbey. In 1794, the Alsatian manufacturer Samuel Vogel established a fabric printing factory there, laying the foundation for the Vorarlberg textile industry.
