The Moritzschlösschen presents itself as a Neoclassical three-winged complex on the western edge of the court garden of Wallerstein Castle. Originally conceived as a representative residence, it bears witness to the architecture of the early 19th century and is now a striking element of the historic castle landscape in Wallerstein.

History+

Construction of the Moritzschlösschen began in 1803, when government president Johann Anton von Beli di Pino, an official in the service of the Princely House of Oettingen-Wallerstein, had the central building erected as his residence. He received princely support through the free provision of building land and timber. Furthermore, stones from the demolished cemetery wall of the parish church and other materials from the old castle were used for the construction. As early as 1805, the property passed into the possession of the widowed Princess Wilhelmine zu Oettingen-Wallerstein.
