Moserhof Castle

The Moserhof-Schlössl, also known as the Messe-Schlössl, is a small city palace located at the corner of Münzgrabenstraße and Moserhofgasse, on the edge of the steeply sloping Mur terrace in Graz's sixth district, Jakomini. During the Graz Fair, it is part of the amusement park.

At the end of the 14th century, the castle bore the name "Hof zu Harmsdorf" and was situated on the medieval traffic axis to the south, the Münzgrabenstraße. In 1580, a renovation was commissioned by Ludwig Camillo Suardo. From 1598 onwards, the noble seat was named "Spanhof" and was the center of a small dominion belonging to the Suardo family. L. S. Suardo requested permission from the sovereign to rename the estate "Müntzgraben," which was granted.

From 1609, the Moserhof-Schlössl was owned by the Graz merchant Matthias Moser, from whom it received its name. Afterwards, the Barons of Jauerburg and Gabelkhoven were the owners of the complex. After severe war damage in World War II, it was restored in 1959 and 1960. Directly next to the small castle, there used to be a cycling track and a trotting track.
