Mühl Castle
On the edge of Graz's Volksgarten in the fourth district of Lend is the Mühl-Schlössl, a small castle. It is near the Protestant Kreuzkirche, whose rectory it temporarily served.
History+
The origins of the Mühl-Schlössl date back to 1560, when the Protestant landscape doctor Baron Christoph von Gabelhofen commissioned its construction. After a redesign at the end of the 17th century, the building underwent extensive renovation in 1889. In 1910, the small castle was converted into the rectory of the Protestant Kreuzkirche. The Mühl-Schlössl suffered severe damage during a bombing raid on April 2, 1945, but a fundamental restoration was successfully completed in 1955.
