Muncaster Castle
Muncaster Castle, in Cumbria, England, has been inhabited by the Pennington family for centuries.
The origins of the estate date back a long way, with foundations of the old castle possibly stemming from the Roman era. In 1208, Alan de Penitone acquired the land, and Muncaster Castle has remained continuously in the possession of the Pennington family ever since. The oldest surviving parts of the current castle, including the Great Hall and the tower, were constructed in the 14th century.
The castle is situated approximately 43 meters above sea level near Ravenglass in the county of Cumbria, England, in the United Kingdom.
Muncaster Castle remains in private ownership and is inhabited by the Pennington family.
