The New Morungen Castle, a historic structure, rises on a hill near Sangerhausen. The castle, once a residence, now houses a seminar center.

History+

The construction of the New Morungen Castle took place between 1865 and 1873 under Baron Emil Freiherr von Eberstein. Following the end of World War II in 1945, the then owners were dispossessed and expelled by the communist authorities. Subsequently, the castle served as a spa facility for the health insurance fund of the GDR. Notably, a new chandelier was installed in the Great Hall as late as March 1989. After reunification, on June 20, 1995, the Munich businessman Peter Klaus Glaser acquired both the New and Old Morungen Castles, returning the property to private ownership.
