New Manor Kahnsdorf

The origins of the estate lie in a medieval moated castle, presumably built by Frankish settlers on a Slavic defensive structure. This early fortification was surrounded by a moat and the Öltzschgraben, secured by ramparts and palisades. A residential tower formed the core of the complex. In 1350, Heinemannus de Kansdorf is mentioned as the first known owner of the manor. Landlords expanded the moated castle with stone residential buildings, leading to the creation of the Kahnsdorf knight's estate, which was designated as such from 1548.
