New Palace (Detmold)

The Palais (also New Palais) was built between 1706 and 1708 by Count Friedrich Adolph. It is a two-story main building with wing-like pavilions. Originally, the Palais served as the dower house for the princesses of Lippe. From 1849 to 1864, it was rebuilt. In front of the southern side facade is a fountain from 1857 with dolphins and tritons. Today, it is the seat of the Detmold University of Music. The Palais Garden adjoins the Palais.
