In the town of Gaildorf, located in the district of Schwäbisch Hall in Baden-Württemberg, stands the New Castle Gaildorf. Originally built as a pavilion, it now functions as the town hall.

History+

The construction of the New Castle took place in 1846. Countess Amalie von Waldeck-Limpurg, widow of Count Georg Friedrich, had it built as a pavilion on the north side of the Kocher river within a park. After 1868, the Waldeck-Limpurg dominion came into the possession of the House of Bentinck through the marriage of Mechthild Karoline Emma von Waldeck-Bergheim to Count Karl Anton Ferdinand von Bentinck. The complex, known as “Villa Waldeck,” was subsequently expanded twice, in 1880 and 1896.
