The New Castle Gmünd, also known as Lodron Castle, is a structure in the town of Gmünd in Carinthia, Austria. It is located in the southeastern corner of the main square.

History+

Construction of the castle began in 1610 under the direction of master builder Daniel Deutta, commissioned by Hans Rudolf von Raitenau, brother of the then Archbishop of Salzburg, Wolf Dietrich. After a change of ownership to Christoph Count of Lodron, also a brother of a Salzburg Archbishop, namely Paris Lodron, the castle was completed between 1651 and 1654 by Anton Riebeler.
