New Castle Guntersblum

The origins of the site where the New Castle stands date back to 1404, when the Oppenheim monastery of Mariacron owned land here. After various leases and changes of ownership, including to Emmerich Schraß von Ülversheim, the property passed to his nephew Adam von Sötern in 1483. In the 16th century, the lawyer Christoph von Otthera acquired the estate. He had construction work carried out in 1561, as evidenced by a year engraved on the archway. After his death, the property passed to his son Jacob von Otthera. After the Thirty Years' War, the estate was leased until it came into the possession of Major Renner von Brandt in 1707, who established a farm with a garden. In 1737, Johann Christian Klotz acquired the so-called Otterau estate.
