New Castle Unterlauter

At the beginning of the 16th century, Adam von Schaumberg owned several farms in Unterlauter, including one on the southern edge of the village. This farm, which included a brickworks and a clay pit in 1619, was remodeled after 1880 by master mason Weisheit for General von Fischer, the former commander of the Metz fortress. During this renovation, the building received Neoclassical and Neo-Renaissance elements and has since been known as the "New Castle." In 1912, Professor Brückner Pfänner zu Tal acquired the property.
