The New Urfahrn Castle in Reisach, Bavaria, is the only castle built in the upper Inn Valley during the 18th century and forms an ensemble with the Reisach Monastery.

History+

The construction of the New Urfahrn Castle took place between 1721 and 1727. The client was Johann Georg von Messerer, the Electoral Brewery Commissioner and Court Chamber Councilor. The plans for the castle were drawn by Johann Baptist Gunetzrhainer, while Abraham Millauer was responsible for its execution. Only a few years later, Messerer also founded what is now Reisach Monastery. A restoration of the castle was last carried out in 1949/50 under the then owner Wilhelm Bracht.
