From Castle to Brewery
The castle was built in the 13th century by the bailiffs of Essen Abbey. In 1559, it was rebuilt; during the Thirty Years' War, the castle was destroyed and re-erected in 1692 as a brewery. The owners were the Lords of Schweinsberg.
