Very numerous throughout the 14th century - occasionally even earlier - the Lords of Hornstein appear as castle lords in the Swabian-Alemannic region.

The Hornstein-Grüningen line has existed since 1311, and to this day, Grüningen Castle is passed down from generation to generation, which makes it something very special.
