The Obergut Lenthe, a historic manor and estate house in Lower Saxony, has been linked with the von Lenthe family for centuries. It evolved from a moated castle to an estate.

History+

The first documented mention of Obergut Lenthe dates back to 1304, when it was already owned by the von Lenthe family. Between 1591 and 1600, the current manor house was newly constructed on the foundations of an older moated castle. To this day, the property remains in the possession of the von Lenthe family. A special feature is the tenant's house on the estate grounds, known as the birthplace of Werner von Siemens, who spent part of his childhood here as the son of the estate tenant Christian Ferdinand Siemens.
