The Ochsenburg, a hilltop castle above the Riesenbach, is located in the Ochsenburg district of Zaberfeld municipality in the Heilbronn district, Baden-Württemberg. It was once a significant complex, its history ranging from medieval noble families to its use as an economic building.

History+

The origins of the Ochsenburg likely date back to the 11th or 12th century, when it was built by the Lords of Ochsenberg. In the 14th century, the castle changed hands several times and was mentioned as being in the possession of the Lords of Magenheim and the Margraves of Baden, among others. By the end of the 14th century, it fell to Württemberg, which granted it as a fief to the Lords of Sternfels. During the Renaissance, a new stately home, a castle, was built on the same site.
