Oldengaerde (Manor)

Oldengaerde is a stately manor house located in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is distinguished by its long history and well-preserved architecture, making it a remarkable example of regional noble residences.
History+
The origins of Oldengaerde date back to 1420, when the estate was owned by the Van Echten family. Reynolt Echten had the manor house built in the first half of the 15th century. In 1660, ownership transferred to Cornelis van Dongen, whose son initiated extensive renovations to the building in 1713. Isaac van Dongen sold Oldengaerde to Jan Kiers in 1781. After Kiers' death in 1789, Jan Thomas Huguenin took over the estate. Ownership later passed to Wynoldus Munniks before Aalt Willem van Holthe acquired it in 1806.
