The High Cathedral of Ss. Mary, Liborius and Kilian, Paderborn, is a cathedral. This structure, with its west tower, shapes the cityscape and combines late Romanesque and Gothic architectural elements.

History+

North of the current cathedral, the Karlsburg with a royal palace was built in 776. In 799, the meeting of Charlemagne with Pope Leo III led to the founding of the Diocese of Paderborn. The current cathedral was built in the 13th century. It gained importance through the transfer of the relics of Saint Liborius from Le Mans in 836, an event still celebrated today with the annual Libori Festival.
