In the Nymphenburg Palace Park in Munich stands the Pagodenburg, a pleasure palace. As an early example of Chinoiserie in Europe, this structure features its architectural design and detailed interior.

History+

The Pagodenburg was constructed between 1716 and 1719 under the direction of Joseph Effner as a maison de plaisance. A design by Elector Max Emanuel served as the basis for its construction. In 1767, the palace underwent a Rococo-style renovation by François Cuvilliés d. Ä. A restoration of the building was completed in 2003.
