Grupellohaus Palais

The Grupello House at Marktplatz 4 in Düsseldorf was built by Matteo Alberti in 1706.

In 1708, Duke Johann Wilhelm gifted the house to the sculptor Gabriel de Grupello. It is a three-story building. Originally, it displayed two lead ideal female busts by the sculptor Grupello above the portal. The busts are now in the City Museum. On November 16, 2012, two replicas made of cast concrete were inaugurated. In 1748, Elector Karl Theodor acquired the house and rented it to Lambert Krahe, who later became director of the academy.
