The Palais Holnstein in Munich is an example of Baroque aristocratic architecture and the preserved noble palace of its era in the Bavarian capital. It has its original room layout and the largely unaltered Rococo facade.

History+

The construction of the Palais Holnstein took place between 1733 and 1737 under the direction of François de Cuvilliés. Elector Karl Albrecht commissioned the building for his son Franz Ludwig, the Count of Holnstein. Three townhouses had to be demolished to make way for the construction. The palace was designed as a four-wing complex around an inner courtyard, with the front house serving representative purposes and the back house accommodating the count's private chambers.
