In Laxenburg, Lower Austria, the Palais Kaunitz is a residence that once served as an aristocratic seat near the imperial castles.

History+

The origins of Palais Kaunitz date back to the years 1698 to 1703, when Prince Dominik Andreas Graf Kaunitz commissioned the construction of the three-winged building. Around 1775, under Wenzel Anton Kaunitz, a renovation took place, giving the palace its current appearance. In 1935, the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross acquired the property. In the following decades until 1988, it housed various educational institutions, including a school for kindergarten teachers, a home economics school, and a secondary school with a boarding house.
