Kees Palace
Palais Kees is a former Graz palace located at the corner of Elisabethstraße and Glacisstraße in the Innere Stadt district.
The palace was built between 1843 and 1845 by architect Georg Hauberrisser the Elder for Johann Christoph Kees as an apartment building. It is the most significant late Classicist building in Graz. From 1884, the Imperial and Royal Corps Command was located in the premises. After renovations began in 2009 and extensive restoration, the former Palais Kees will house a student dormitory.
The four-story building dates from the Biedermeier period. The central risalit on the main facade features a monumental colonnade front with balustrades. The two stone portals with gate wings from the construction period are adorned with pilasters and a continuous frieze, and are equipped with fender stones.
