Palais Liechtenstein

At the site of the current palace, there was originally an archducal tax office, which existed between 1658 and 1697 and was destroyed in a city fire in 1697. Subsequently, Prince Johann Adam Andreas Liechtenstein had a new palace built in the Baroque style, which then served as the Liechtenstein administrative building. From 1719, it functioned as the administrative seat for the Lordship of Schellenberg and the County of Vaduz. In 1774, the Princes of Liechtenstein sold the building. Various uses followed, including as a brewery, inn, and spinning mill, as well as a meeting place for a reading society. In 1848, the then Feldkirch mayor Andreas Ritter von Tschavoll acquired the palace; later, it passed into the possession of Mayor Anton Gohm. Since 1967, the palace has been owned by the City of Feldkirch.
