Palais Lippe

The construction of Palais Lippe took place between 1750 and 1760 according to plans by Johann Conrad Schlaun for Johann Gerhard Edler von Meinertzhagen. After his death, the estate passed to Count Friedrich Wilhelm zur Lippe-Biesterfeld in 1770 through his daughter's marriage. The Lippe-Biesterfeld family owned the country house for over 200 years. In the early 19th century, Peter Joseph Lenné the Elder redesigned the gardens. In 1902, Count Regent Ernst zur Lippe-Biesterfeld had an extensive park laid out. After financial difficulties of the princely family and war damage, such as the loss of the southern side wing in World War II, the estate was acquired by the Versorgungswerk der Architektenkammer Baden-Württemberg in 1979 and restored. After the Bundesarchitektenkammer moved out in 1999, the Palais was sold to private ownership at the end of 2002.
