The Palais Mayr-Melnhof in Graz-St. Leonhard is an impressive residence, distinguished by its late historicist Neo-Baroque facade and the preserved Neo-Régence stucco decoration inside. Originally built as a city palace, it now serves as an important cultural venue in the Styrian capital.

History+

The construction of the Palais Mayr-Melnhof took place in 1852. Towards the end of the 19th century, specifically in 1894 and 1895, the building underwent extensive renovations, which were carried out according to designs by August Gunolt. The characteristic facade in the late historicist Neo-Baroque style was designed by Rudolf Vital. Inside the palace, valuable Neo-Régence stucco decoration has been preserved. From 1966 until 2000, the building served as the Graz Cultural Center.
