Neuhaus-Preysing Palace

The Palais Neuhaus-Preysing is a palace in the old town of Munich, Prannerstr. 2. It was built in 1737 by Kögelsberger, an employee of the Munich master builder François de Cuvilliés the Elder, who also designed it. This is a new building of the property erected in 1703 by the noble family of Neuhaus. The building served as the second city residence of Count Ferdinand Maria Franz Freiherr von Neuhaus.

After several changes of ownership, the house was bought in 1898 by the Bayerische Staatsbank to expand the institute's business premises. However, it was not until 1924 that the necessary connection between the two buildings was broken through. For a long time, the palace was used for the bank's registry. In 1944, the building was bombed. In 1952, the necessary securing measures of the ruin began, and from 1954 to 1956, the new building designs by the Munich architect Erwin Schleich were implemented. The original interior design of the palace was changed in the process.

Through the merger with Bayerische Vereinsbank in 1971, the palace ultimately passed into the possession of Bayerische Hypo- und Vereinsbank AG.

As part of the Fünf Höfe concept from 2003-06, the Palais Neuhaus-Preysing was also renovated according to the plans of architects Guido Canali (Parma) and Gilberto Botti (Munich). Behind the imposing facade, in addition to offices and conference rooms on the upper floors, an event center was created. The bank's guest casino is located on the 4th floor.

The building still possesses one of the few originally preserved noble palace facades in Prannerstraße in Munich today.
