Das Palais wurde vor 1705 durch den Rittmeister von Plötz errichtet. 1850 bis 1886 erflogte die Nutzung als Posthof. 2002 wurde das Palais grundlegend saniert und wird seitdem durch die Stadtbibliothek genutzt.
