In Munich, the Palais Preysing is renowned as the city's first Rococo palace. Built in the 18th century.

History+

Colonel Master of the Hunt Johann Maximilian IV. Emanuel Count von Preysing commissioned this city palace between 1723 and 1728. The construction was overseen by Joseph Effner after Count Preysing, an advisor to Elector Karl Albrecht, had faced ridicule for his previously unfitting living situation. The work was carried out with great urgency, even at night by torchlight. Particularly noteworthy are the stucco works by Dominikus Zimmermann. Even the equipment for the horses was luxurious, with marble feeding troughs each costing 25 guilders. Johann Georg Keyßler, a travel writer, praised the palace as an adornment to Munich.
