The Palais Rastede, a historic residence, is located in the municipality of Rastede in Ammerland. Originally used as a country house, it now serves as a cultural hub for the region.

History+

In 1822, Peter Friedrich Ludwig acquired the property, which had previously served as a country house. He had the building converted in the classical style for his son, Hereditary Prince Paul Friedrich August, and added an English landscape garden. Around 1882, Paul Friedrich August's son, Grand Duke Nikolaus Friedrich Peter, initiated another transformation.
