Salm Palace

The former mint was first mentioned in a document in 1160. From 1751 to 1756, the current palace was built by the capitular Johann Georg Wenzeslaus von Hoffmann himself, according to his plans, in place of the collegiate court "Zur alten Mühle". From 1769 to 1777, Franz Georg Karl Freiherr von Boos in Waldeck lived in the house, from 1777 to 1783 Dean Edmund Paul Anton Dalken, and until 1817 Dean of the Collegiate Church Joseph Jakob Freiherr von Tautphöus. From 1817 to 1857, the house served as the seat of the district and city court. Subsequently, it came into private ownership. During World War II, the palace was severely damaged. Since 1952, it has been owned by the city of Aschaffenburg. From 1969-72, the palace was reconstructed using old building components.
