Palmsches Castle

Although the castle's existence is presumed in the late Middle Ages, it is first documented in its current form in 1698. In October 1914, the city of Esslingen acquired the property of Baron von Palm, including the lands in Hohenkreuz. In the same year, the property was resold to the Reichsfiskus. The original plan was to build barracks on the site and use the castle buildings for military administration. An aqueduct in the Obertal demonstrates that the estate already had its own water supply in the 16th century. Between 1994 and 1999, the Esslingen building cooperative acquired the castle grounds and park. According to the 1914 purchase agreement, the castle park, also known as "Baumgarten," was to remain untouched unless military necessities arose.
