The Paulinenschlösschen in Bad Soden am Taunus is a historic castle on the edge of the Old Spa Park. It was originally built as a summer residence for a duchess.

History+

The Paulinenschlösschen was constructed in 1847 for Duchess Pauline of Nassau. She had developed a fondness for Bad Soden during a spa stay in April 1841 and decided to have her own summer residence built there. In addition to the three-story main building, a coach house was also erected. Shortly before her death, the Duchess sold the property on September 24, 1855, to the balneologist Dr. Georg Thilenius. He operated a guesthouse in the small castle, which hosted numerous guests such as princes, ministers, and princesses in the late 19th century. Among the residents were Princess Bismarck and her daughter in 1872, as well as King Wilhelm of Württemberg and Helmuth Karl Bernhard von Moltke.
