The present castle was constructed at the beginning of the 19th century. A preserved Renaissance portal from 1609 points to an earlier structure on this site. This portal features a Latin inscription and the alliance coat of arms of Engelhard I. Göler von Ravensburg and Anna Maria née von Mentzingen, the builders of the demolished Renaissance castle.
